Oct. 2007 Dik Trom canceled
I am very sorry to announce that the musical Dik Trom has been canceled for lack of funds. We hope to be able to continue where we left off someday because artistically it promised to be an amazing project…
Sept. 2007 NINA is finished
The collaboration-project with Les Freres Guissé resulted in a wonderful cd: NINA. The release will be in June when we (Leoni+band+Les Freres Guissé) do the opening-concert of the Festival Mundial in Tilburg, the Netherlands. Tour in 2008… Similar projects (but Leoni Jansen solo cd’s as well) will from now on be released on our own label: NOON-records.
Dont be a Stranger/ONE
Good news and bad news about Don’t be a Stranger: The live-shows this summer on festivals in the Netherlands are cancelled for lack of funds. The good news is that the cd is starting to do quite well, especially abroad, and will be released shortly in Germany and the UK.
Dutch worldmusic 't Minne
Another NOON release for this year: A special project I do with the girl-trio Three-ality from Friesland: We’re making a pop-album with Dutch songs from the Middle-Ages and the Renaissance. I’ve had this idea already for a long time and now seemed the right time to do it. Ofcourse there already is quite a lot of Dutch vocal music from that period, but not in this pop/world-music manner that we are doing. People who heard some of what it’s going to be like are both very surprised and very enthusiastic….
October 2006
Leoni Jansens’ new cd : “Heartstrings and Loose Ends” is finished. We worked on it all summer and are very proud with the result. We’ll be touring in Holland from October through March. See http://www.leoni.nl/?page=tourlist for a playlist.
Dont be a stranger/ONE is doing pretty well (also for sale at i-tunes now). Later this year we’ll do a radio-campaign in the US and Canada. And I’m planning on doing the whole show live next summer on a number of big festivals in the Netherlands.
Another planned release this year: An album with Leoni and the band together with the Freres Guisees, produced by me. We collaborated succesfully last year in Holland and Senegal and recorded here (at NOON). Next December we’ll be travelling to Dakar for the cd-presentation and a few concerts. We’ll be touring the Netherlands in spring 2007.
Droeh Nankoe (featuring on Don’t be a stranger/ONE) and me decided on making a whole album together. With lots of Indian guest-musicians. This project is still new, but we’re both really looking forward to further intensify our collaboration.
And I’ll be composing the music for “Dik Trom” . A Dutch Music-theatre/Musical production, produced by De Zee Theaterproducties, and on tour in the Netherlands next season.
